LightHouse was founded in 2012 by Elke den Ouden and Rianne Valkenburg because of their shared curiosity about the opportunities for public space with new technology, and their surprise at the difficulty of practically implementing (scientific) knowledge.

In 14 years of existence, LightHouse broadend her scope to other environments with complex transitions, such as climate resilience and the energy transition.

Rianne and Elke both have a part-time position as TU/e Fellow in the Innovation, Technology Entrepeneurship and Marketing group of the department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences of the Eindhoven University of Technology. LightHouse was originally founded as part of the TU/e Innovation Lab and Intelligent Lighting Institute, to strenghten their knowledge transfer and valoristion activities.

Since September 2023 Lighthouse is a separate partnership where Rianne and Elke continue these knowledge-intensive activities in close collaborations with TU/e researchers and students.

We believe that organizations can only truly grow when they have a clear understanding of where they stand, where they want to go, and what value they can create within their ecosystem. Our drive comes from a deep understanding of what people need in order to act with confidence, as well as what organizations require to build solutions that work, for themselves and for society.

Rianne helps teams see their place within the bigger picture and uncover new possibilities, especially in complex challenges.
Elke brings a sharp focus on value creation: What does it deliver for people, companies, public organizations, and the broader system? Together, we combine vision, design, and realism.

We help clients choose direction, articulate shared ambitions, and take practical steps in an uncertain environment. We do this by connecting perspectives, revealing opportunities, and strengthening ecosystems. Our approach is personal, committed, and pragmatic: aimed at ensuring that every step contributes to solutions that are both meaningful and future-proof.
